01.
What Is Fasting?
Fasting is a voluntary abstaining from food (or other comforts) for spiritual purposes. In Scripture, fasting is paired with prayer as a way to humble ourselves before God and refocus our dependence on Him.
Health Note:
If you have health concerns, please consult a medical professional before fasting.
02.
Why Do We Fast?
-
To humble ourselves before God
-
To renew spiritual focus and passion
-
To seek God’s guidance
-
To draw closer to Him through prayer
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
— James 4:8
Does Jesus Expect Us to Fast?
Yes. Jesus said “when you fast,” not “if you fast” (Matthew 6:16–18). The early church fasted as they sought God’s direction and renewal.
